Our Mission
The Catholic University Design Collaborative's mission is to train effective architects with a strong social commitment by guiding architecture students through actual design projects. The mission-based outreach provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience through work on actual projects with clients and creating real impact.
Our program provides architectural services to those nonprofit and community groups in the District of Columbia and beyond who could not otherwise afford architectural design services with the ultimate goal of repairing and improving the city, its neighborhoods and its buildings.
Creating an impact by providing architectural services to community groups who could not otherwise afford design services.
Our Model
Design Collaborative design teams consist of architecture faculty, staff, and students. All teams are directed and supervised by a faculty member with a professional license to practice architecture in the District of Columbia. When appropriate, additional faculty within the school, alumni, and scholars in other CUA departments serve as members of design teams. Our Design
The Catholic University Design Collaborative harnesses the creativity and talent of our students and faculty to create award winning designs. Including the 2010 DC AIA Unbuilt Design Award and the 2006-2007 ACSA Collaborative Practice Award.
