The annual AIA Conference on Architecture and Design is coming to Washington, D.C. from June 5th until June 8th, celebrating, “multidisciplinary solutions from across the built environment and the power of designing a better world, together.” The conference is intended as a networking and educational opportunity for those interested in the architectural industry. There will be over 400 sessions ranging from workshops to seminars, with keynote speakers and tours around the city. See the full schedule here

Wednesday, June 5th

Paul O’Connell, BArch ‘96, AIA

Paul O’Connell is a Senior Project Architect and Principal at Page Southerland Page’s Washington, DC office. He is one of the leaders of the IDEA Factory tour (ET317) at 12:45pm on June 5th.

 

Thursday, June 6th

Mark Lawrence, BArch ‘97, AIA

Mark Lawrence is a Principal & Co-Founder of EL Studio, and has acted as an adjunct professor at the School of Architecture and Planning. He is one of the panelists of a seminar called “How Design Creates Value in Public Housing” (TH115) at 2pm on June 6th.

Carolyn Rickard-Brideau, BS Arch ‘83, AIA, WELL AP, LEED AP

Carolyn Rickard-Brideau is a Partner and CEO at Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, Inc. She will be one of four female CEO’s leading the seminar called “Charting Your Course for Leadership: A Conversation with Firm Leaders” (TH104) at 2pm on June 6th.

John Michael Day, MArch ‘97, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

John Day is a Principal at Cunningham Quill Architects and is the Co-Chair for the AIADC Design Excellence Committee. He will be leading a tour of the Southwest Harbor (ET215) at 1pm on June 7th.

Kathleen Lane, MArch 2010, AIA

Kathleen Lane is currently the Managing Director for Climate Action and Design Excellence at AIA. Lane studied in the graduate concentration in Cultural Studies and Sacred Space and was a lecturer at CUA. She is one of the leaders of a seminar called “Determined: The Power of Storytelling for Climate Action” (FR210) at 2pm on June 7th.

Brian Pilot, MArch ’97, AIA, LEED AP

Brian Pilot is Principal at Studios in DC, which he has been on the team for since 1999. He is a leader for the seminar called “Reimagining Aging Structures: The WMATA” (FR320) at 4pm on June 7th.

Elizabeth Emerson, BArch ‘97, AIA
