CUA’s Sr. Director of Planning and Design Management and Associate University Architect
Thomas J. Striegel, AIA, LEED AP, B.S.Arch ’84, B.Arch ‘85 is CUA’s Sr. Director of Planning and Design Management and Associate University Architect. Tom works with the University Architect on the selection of A/E firms to provide design services for new buildings and renovations of the University’s 51 buildings. Tom manages the A/E’s design services in feasibility studies, programming, budgeting, planning and performs design and technical reviews.
Tom is a registered architect in DC, Maryland and Virginia and holds NCARB certification. When he joined CUA’s facilities staff in 2019, Tom brought 35 years of experience as a principal and the vice president of Davis Buckley Architects and Planners, an award winning, DC based firm specializing in master planning, education, historic preservation, healthcare, memorial and museum projects.
Tom and his wife Maureen Harzinski (BA Economics ’86, JD ’92) live in Kensington, MD where they raised their three children, and are members of Holy Cross Church, where Tom services on the Finance Council.
