My research centers on Central and Northern European Modernism, more specifically the work of Mies van der Rohe and Alvar Aalto. Secondary interests are in the development of historical architecture in those regions, and its juxtaposition with Modernism. My recent book, German Facade Design, Traditions of Screening from 1500 to Modernism, stresses such relationships.
